New York City is taking another step toward a more accessible subway system. The MTA has begun ADA upgrades at six stations using revenue from congestion pricing, including major improvements at the 42nd Street–Bryant Park/5th Avenue complex in Manhattan. The project will add elevators, accessible pathways, upgraded bathrooms and modernized fare gates.

The MTA is expanding its modernized subway fare gates to 20 additional New York City stations following a reported 35% reduction in fare evasion at pilot locations.
